It's day 67 and counting in Haiti and God has been good to my team. The things we have experienced would truly amaze you.
So, for our first week in Haiti we experience our first possible demonic possession/ oppression. This first thing that comes to my mind is when you say exorcism, my mind says green puke being spewed out of a girls mouth at the same time she levitates and her head rotates 360 degrees.
Well!!! It was nothing like in the movies, but it was equally scary. Stories about possessions/ oppressions are pretty common here in Haiti. Since, the practice of Voodoo or Vodou (In Kreole) is pretty common over here. In fact, it is considered a religion and one guy even thought that it is a division of the Catholic Church. I was like, what??????? NO!!!!!! I had to explain it to the guy, in my not so perfect Kreole that it is not true, and whoever told him that, doesn't know the truth, or is a liar.
So in Haiti if someone falls ill or wants something like a job or money, they go to a witch doc who casts a spell and boom some people get healed, but there is a catch. The very fact that you are seeking help from a source that is not of God, means you are opening your life to an entity that would do more harm than good.
So the trend among the new-age witch docs is through the humanitarian angle. They open Clinics, feed the poor etc. Now, I’m not sure if they are providing the same spell with a new delivery method if you ask me I’d tell you it’s feels sketch to me.
Some of the witch docs don’t like priests or mssionaries, so I ask all you guys to keep praying for me and my team for protection against this.
